Bindakote®:
Cast Coated Papers
|
The Mill
Bindakote
is manufactured by Favini at the Crusinallo Paper Mill,
which is nestled in the foothills of the Italian Alps, only
miles from the Swiss border. The mill is owned and operated
by the Favini family, whose five generations of fine papermaking
have come together to create this highly respected cast
coated paper.
The
Process
The Binda process, as it is known, produces the world's
finest quality cast coated papers. Uncoated rolls of a
special high-white premium base paper are coated with
a thick application of highly refined clay and smoothed
onto its surface with an air knife. The newly coated paper
is pressed against a super-heated, highly polished chromium
drum to achieve its gloss. The mirror-like finish of the
chromium drum then casts its reflective image onto the
coated surface, creating the exceptionally smooth and
glossy surface of Bindakote.
